About

Scott Smidt.

I spent twenty-five years making technology work inside businesses much bigger than the ones I now serve. Then I started Augma, because the same problems show up at five people, just cheaper.

The short version

Most technology fails for organisational reasons, not technical ones. Nobody agreed what it was for, nobody measured whether it worked, and nobody stayed long enough to find out. I have watched that happen at telco scale, and I have watched it happen in businesses with five people and one shared inbox.

So Augma does the unglamorous half: measure the work first, put a number on the change, install one thing properly, and then check the number was right.

I am doing it to my own business at the same time — in public, with a demanding corporate role and about ten hours a week to give it. That is not a marketing angle. It is the only credential an owner-operator should accept from someone selling them a system.

What I've done

The relevant parts, not the résumé.

  • Twenty-five years in technology, sixteen of them at Dell
  • Delivered network automation across five sites and 1,250 devices — validated architecture, reused globally
  • Built twelve templated cloud offers after watching a team lose deals to a bigger competitor, and signed three providers to run the operations behind them
  • Owned a multi-hundred-million-dollar annual plan and finished above it three halves in a row
  • Ran a consultancy service line with P&L responsibility and a team of six, at BDO Chartered Accountants
  • Business process reviews and ICT audits that turned into seven-figure follow-on work

What I don't claim

No accounting qualification. No legal or privacy specialisation. And no long list of small-business case studies — yet. Augma is client zero, and the first real case studies will appear here when they exist, with the misses included.

A list of nothing but wins reads like a brochure.

Why this business exists

To put the systems big companies take for granted within reach of the businesses competing with them.

Measured before. Proven after.
